Atomic Force Microscopy Courses, Schedule for 2019

Atomic Force Microscope Assembly and Operation Workshops in 2019

December, 2018: Build your own TT-2 Atomic Force Microscope at an AFMWorkshop Assembly Workshop in 2019! As an attendee to a 2019 Assembly Workshop at AFMWorkshop, you will learn the theory, design, and operation of atomic force microscopes, and you'll even get to build your own AFM! Workshops take place over the course of 5 days at our headquarters in Signal Hill, California. Primarily for customers who have purchased, or plan to purchase a TT-2 AFM, the Assembly Workshops offer a chance to get in-depth training in order to maximize the efficiency of your atomic force microscope. Each day begins with two hours of coursework, followed by hands-on training including the assembly, testing, and operation of the AFM. There are three scheduled workshops (shown below) which give customers multiple options that can fit best with their schedules.

In addition, AFMWorkshop is proud to partner with AFMHelp.com in their 2019 PORTO AFM Training Workshop in Portugal. This workshop is held in Porto, Portugal on April 15-18, 2019 by Dr. Peter Eaton and includes lectures on the instrumentation, operation, applications, data processing, and troubleshooting of atomic force microscopes. Registration deadline is February 15, 2019.

AFMWorkshop TT-2 Assembly Workshops - 2019

AFMWorkshop is proud to announce our 2019 schedule for Atomic Force Microscope Assembly Workshops. We strongly believe that to utilize the full potential of an AFM, users must be adequately educated on the theory, design, and operation of the instruments. Attendees to the workshops will be prepared to operate, gain optimal performance from, and obtain the best images from their atomic force microscopes. In addition, customers will obtain useful know-how for maintaining and repairing their instruments, as well as making needed modifications for specific experiments.

Atomic force microscopes are growing in popularity due to their flexible use in many fields of study including materials science and biomedical engineering. AFMs are also much more affordable compared to other characterization techniques including scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy.

The 2019 AFMWorkshop Assembly Workshop Schedule is as follows:

  • March 25 - 29, 2019
  • June 24 - 28, 2019
  • September 9 - 13, 2019

The five day course consists of two hours of coursework in the morning, followed by hands-on application of atomic force microscopes including building, testing, and imaging samples.

The agenda of the Assembly Workshop is as follows:

  • Monday: Introduction to AFM, Assembly AFM Components
  • Tuesday: AFM Design, AFM Operation
  • Wednesday: High-Resolution Scanning, Miscellaneous Topics
  • Thursday: Image Analysis, Artifacts, Probes; System Certification
  • Friday: Open Discussion

PORTO AFM Training Workshop - 2019

AFMWorkshop is teaming up with Dr. Peter Eaton of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Portugal in Porto, Portugal for an Atomic Force Microscopy Training Workshop.

This workshop will include lectures covering instrumentation and AFM modes, operation and application of AFM, data and image processing, troubleshooting and more. In addition to lectures, the course will also include practical hands-on classes covering a wide range of applications of AFM including data acquisition, sample preparation, AFM operation, and data and image processing. Click here to learn more.

Included in the PORTO Workshop on April 15 - 18, 2019 is:

  • 4 Day AFM Course
  • Lectures (included on disk to take home)
  • The Book "Atomic Force Microscopy"
  • Guest Lecturers Discussing Advanced Applications
  • Food and Refreshments

Registration deadline for the PORTO Workshop is on February 15, 2019.
